Make Believe Play is perhaps one of those under estimated forms of play. In my research it came up as one of the factors with a Mother's Care and Protection to correlate to leadership styles (R.343 a R 3 to 5 is considered a moderate correlation). The moderate correlation of Mother Protection and Sense Making Make Believe was strongest in tolerance of uncertainty but also played a role in the tolerance of freedom. This indicates that Parental Attachment and Sense Making Make Believe Play has a moderate correlation to leadership even in adulthood. So do not under estimate the power of just letting your kids be bored, and going into their own imaginative world. Making worlds yourself from cloth, cardboard or materials or buying places where they can pretend and make up new roles for themselves.
My kids have thrived by having their own worlds, some of which I have brought below and others we made up. I'd love to here what works for you. You can follow us on Instagram to see how we use the 'Make Believe' worlds below, and I'd love to connect with you on your journey in childhood and motherhood.
