One of the surprising outcomes of my research was a form of play which is underestimated, Virtual Interactive Play like playing video games. This form of play correlated together with the Father's Protection and Care to a person’s cognitive ability: ‘Dichotomous Thinking’ and ‘Other Positive Oriented Style’. There were moderate correlations found from Mother Care with other factors: R.475 (an R 3 to 5 is considered as moderate) to Cognitive Ability ‘Negative Self Orientated Style’. Mother Protection with ‘Father Care’ also correlated with moderate strength to ‘Other Orientated Positive Style’ R.408. Sense Making ‘Creative Play,’ ‘Mother Care,’ ‘Virtual Play’ correlated moderately to ‘Positive Self Orientated Style.’
My children love games with there Dad or 'Far' in Danish where they build worlds in civilisation, and have to think through strategies to grow and or defend. They have also loved lego from a very young age, perhaps the danish influence but we highly recommend Lego We Do and Lego Boost. You will see video's on my Instagram of my daughter coding the colour, direction and speed at 5, and my son all at the same time simultaneously learning without thinking about it science and maths through play.
